Do you like this story?
Three of my most favourite TV shows are “Two and a Half Men”, “The big Bang Theory” & “How I Met Your Mother”! CBS broadcasts tons of TV Shows that you would fall in love with and most of them becomes available on CBS website for the online viewers. Have a look at the image below to get a glance on the list of shows available on CBS.
Like me, if you live in India or any other country where CBS is still officially not available, trying to watch a TV Show or any other video for that matter on CBS will throw this error “The video you have requested is not available for your geographic region”.
The workaround for me used to be:
Search for websites that hosts these TV Show’s videos and stream it from there. These websites are generally extremely low quality, slapped with tons of ads everywhere and really low quality of video. The other solution was to turn to a torrent website and download these videos from there. Again, you have to wait for a few days till the video becomes available on the torrent site and there are always threats of spyware & malware infecting your computer in case you end up on a bad source for downloading these videos.
I don’t use these methods anymore. I came across this really simple extension for Chrome and Firefox that enables me to watch all of my favourite TV Shows & Other Videos not only from CBS but also from HULU and many other video streaming websites that would otherwise throw this error “The video you have requested is not available for your geographic region”.
This really simple to install and use plugin is Media Hint. All you need to do in order to watch videos from restricted countries and geographical regions is, visit MediaHit website and install the Media Hint extension. Install Media Hint extension for Chrome if you use Chrome web browser, for Firefox users, Media Hint has an extension for Firefox that you can install. There is no additional setup to do. Just install the extension and you are all set.
